At the start of every academic year new and returning students may have to select modules to take for that year. This creates problems for students and the University alike, with particular reference to the problems of timetable clashes. This project investigates the problem and attempts to create a possible solution to aid students in choosing modules and creating a feasible timetable. In producing a solution previous final year projects have been analysed and guidance taken from University staff and students. The final solution is a database driven website. It gives the user the ability to create a timetable by selecting the modules they wish to study from a web interface. The software then checks for clashes and highlights them to the user. Using both qualitative and quantitative evaluation criteria the project was deemed to be a success and exceeded the minimum requirements.
