📄 Project Abstract
Maurice Beresford's book "Walks Round Red Brick" needed to be preserved, as the book only had a limited number of copies in circulation, and no more would ever be published. The goal of this project was to create a website, allowing the general public, but more specifically, members of Leeds University with a zest for historical knowledge, access to the books material. Taking full advantage of the dynamic potential of the web (over a static book), an interactive prototype website was produced. The project made full use of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft ASP, Microsoft IIS, client side image maps and Cascading style sheets to produce the prototype solution to the problem faced. A menu of clickable maps was created, giving the user the choice of viewing the area in and around the University in various years.
