📄 Project Abstract

The purpose of this project is to create a visualization of protein function annotations, and to create a prediction procedure on the annotations of proteins. The annotations visualized in this project are taken from a source called the Gene Ontology (GO). Simply put, this is a collection of related annotations that describe protein function in a non ambiguous way. The GO is described in more detail in chapter 1. There is no tool available at the moment that allows for the large scale structures produced by the relations between GO annotations to be viewed at once. Also, visualizations that are available presently do not allow for the similarity between the annotations to be viewed. This project aims to obtain a visualization of the GO annotations such that the relationships and similarities between the annotations can be easily viewed and interpreted. The prediction part of this project should give a confidence rating for the likelihood of a given annotation to be part of a descriptio...
