Secondary school students carry with them a set of values that influence their thoughts, feelings and actions. Value preference is the general attitudes and beliefs chosen by Students in their relationships in the society. It is the beliefs and attitudes about the way things should be. They involve what is important to us. We attach values to all sorts of things; politics, religion, money, sex, education helping others, family, friends, career, cheating, self respect and everything (Santrock, 2007). Values exist in the consciousness and weigh the extent of families and individual pursuits, and are passed from generation to generation, from childhood by socialization agencies; family, church, culture, school, peer group and working environment enhance person's development of value preferences (Okafor, 1994).
