Using NETIMIS for Investigation into the Elective Cardiac Surgery Process
📄 Project Abstract
The Elective Cardiac Surgery Process (ECSP) is one that is very important and can be extremely significant to a lot of patients' lives and well-being. It is therefore beneficial that the process is as efficient and effective as it can be in the areas of time and consistency while also using the resources it needs sensibly and to good effect. The client throughout this project is Nihal Weerasena a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI). The client believes the process can be improved and streamlined to make it more efficient and also less prone to delays and cancellations. The modelling tool NETIMIS has been used to model the current process and run simulations. Results obtained have then allowed for modelling of differing and potential scenarios. The tool will allow the implementation of pathways which are identified so outcomes of the models can be evaluated.
