Partial replacement has been in existence since time immemorial and it came to being as a means of sourcing alternative locally available materials to substitute the already available and exorbitant ones such as cement, lime and bitumen. Besides the cost effectiveness of using alternative materials in the production of asphalt concrete, it also brings about environment enhancement by taking care of some materials that would have been a threat to the environment. As the world is going green, there is every need for us to ensure that we promote this cause and this study is aimed at achieving this by introducing iron tailings as a partial replacement of fine aggregate in asphalt concrete. With millions of tons of crushed aggregate used each year in Nigeria in road construction, significant environmental impact is caused.
