The success of a Video Game rests primarily and quite obviously on its playability. A computer game must be able to retain the attention of its players for the largest amount of time possible. Modern computer games suffer from a whole host of problems associated with their playability. Firstly, their playability is bound by the size of the game. Once a player has completed a game their experience is effectively over as there is little left to do. The player can re-run the game but enjoyment will be limited as the player is likely to find that game less challenging than they did previously. Secondly, on a very similar note, computer games can be too easy to be interesting or too hard to be playable. In order to retain the concentration of the user a game must be able to supply a challenge that is attainable but at the same time requires a sense of achievement for the user and therefore should not be too achievable.
