📄 Project Abstract

Science as the bedrock of technological advancement is very important in national development. This has been pointed to in previous research studies and results of Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations. As a way to improve on the quality of Science Education, this study was undertaken to find out the relationship between students' achievements in identified chemical concepts and balancing of chemical equations. The sample of the study consisted of 180 SS II chemistry students from six Senior Secondary Schools in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. The population of the study comprised fourteen Senior Secondary Schools in Otukpo Local Government Area. The data for the study was collected by the use of test scores with a reliability coefficient r = 0.70. The Pearsons' Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test the stated hypotheses of the relationship between the understanding of chemical concepts and students' achievement in balancing chemical equations.
