Anxiety and depression are two common mental health disorders in women of child bearing age. Most studies on these subjects have been conducted mainly during the post-partum period while a relatively few number addressed these subjects at the ante natal period. There is therefore need to close this gap. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and correlates of anxiety and depression in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy among Nigerian women. A total of 716 participants were recruited from two tertiary health facilities, 358 each in the second trimester and third trimester of pregnancy. It was a two stage descriptive cross sectional study. In the first stage, a sociodemographic questionnaire was used to assess their sociodemographic characteristics, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) were also used to assess the anxiety and depressive symptoms.
