The Universal Basic Education (UBE) is intended to be free and compulsory to all children of school age. A lot of money will be required for any meaningful implementation class to be recorded. The success of the UBE is a major concern of Nigerians bearing in mind its cardinal importance as a tool for eradicating illiteracy, ignorance and poverty, as well as a tool for stimulating and accelerating national growth and development, national migration and political consciousness, but the fear of what brought failure of its predecessor programme UPE might haunt the new experiment calls for effort on the part of principal agencies of implementation to guard against its failure. It identifies and analyses certain socio-economic variable that influence UBE costs and investigate the factors that determine the magnitude of government fund allocated to the UBE programme in Nigeria.
