📄 Project Abstract

The aim of this project is to look into how changes in methods of assessment affect students in their choice of modules and how average grades are affected by this. The report looks into how changes in modules affect student numbers and average grades and whether there is a pattern in these changes. The report looks into the average grades of both coursework and exam and the correlating enrolment numbers of all modules within the School of Computing over a three year period. The reports shows that changes within a module whether it is a change in lecturer, change in the semester that it is taught, a change in pre requisites, change in module content or a change in assessment methods used, can have a significant impact upon students within the School of Computing. This therefore argues that course lecturers must be aware of the consequences of such changes that they may make. Within the three year period that this report looks into (Sessions 1998- 1999, 1999-2000 and 200-2001) there hav...
