📄 Project Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate teacher self-efficacy belief and control orientation as predictors of students' interest and achievement in poetry in Nsukka Education Zone of Enugu State, Nigeria. Four research questions and four null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted correlation survey design. The population of the study comprised 2,609 (SSII) Literature-in-English students and 59 literature-in-English teachers. A multi-stage stratified random sampling technique was adopted for selection of 341 respondents. Four instruments were used for data collection namely: Poetry Teacher Self-Efficacy Belief Inventory (TSEBI), Poetry Teacher Control Orientation Scale (PTCOS), Students Poetry Interest Rating Scale (SPIRS), and Students' Achievement Score Proforma (SASP).
