The importance of History as a subject in the school curriculum cannot be overemphasized. Wise persons take note of the activities or events that unfold in the society especially the ones that are considered to be of relative significance. Fafunwa (1995) observed that History is to a people what memory is to the individual. A people with no knowledge of their past would suffer from collective amnesia, groping blindly into the future without guide posts of precedence to shape their future. Similarly, Crookall (1976) pointed out the importance of History thus: To ignore the experience of the past is not merely folly but a sort of impiety. Unfortunately, History is today, one of the most unpopular subjects in the post basic education level (See Appendix III on page 65).
