Home Economics at the junior secondary school (JSS) (Basic 7-9) is offered as an integrated subject. At the senior secondary school (SSS) level, it is offered as three separated subjects and at the higher education level various Home Economics courses offered include among others Home Management, Food and Nutrition, and Clothing and Textiles. The Clothing and Textiles component, as other Home Economics subjects, is skill oriented. The clothing component is concerned with knowledge, skill and attitude needed to design and construct garments while textiles component deals with knowledge of different textiles, principles of clothing selection and maintenance (Igbo, 1989). It is a vocational subject which imparts various forms of saleable skills on the students and ensures capabilities for providing entrepreneurship opportunities in different clothing areas for its recipients (Adebayo, 2008). It is one of the Home Economics subjects that is offered in Nigerian Colleges of Education (NCE). ...
