STRATEGIES FOR EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN ENUGU EDUCATION ZONE

📄 Project Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the strategies for the effective administration of the UBE programme in Enugu Education zone. The purpose of the study was to investigate what strategies could be adopted to achieve effective administration of the UBE in Enugu Education zone. Four research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The subjects used for the study were the 9 Education Secretaries in the zone, 355 head teachers and 921 teachers in the zone. A 37-item questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents. The research questions were answered using mean scores and standard deviation while the null hypotheses were tested using the z-test statistics. The findings of the study include: the governments have vital roles to play if the UBE scheme is going to be implemented effectively; such roles include: provision of infrastructures and facilities on the schools, providing enough funds for the scheme and motivating teachers appropriately.
