Spatial Databases; an analysis of Open Source Systems

📄 Project Abstract

This project conducts a research and analysis of various 'open source' systems for spatial information. It addresses five objectives: research on spatial databases and available open source systems; analysis of open source systems; implementation of prototype (create a database to which the prototype will be linked); implementation of the prototype (it can include creation of a website); and finding criteria for evaluation (this can be based on HCI principles, use of structured interviews). Chapter 1 explains the project methodology used to solve the above problem, the background reading done for the project and the project schedule of this report. Chapter 2 describes what open source and open source systems are and the software engineering methods by which systems are developed.
