📄 Project Abstract
Health service utilization has been of considerable research interest due to its fundamental role in the determination of national health status. Globally, 287000 women died in 2010 due to pregnancy or child birth related complications and 6.6 million children died in 2010 due to childhood diseases (WHO, 2015). Midway to 2015 which is the date set for attaining Millennium Development Goals (MDG), many women and children still die in Nigeria (Federal Ministry of Health-FMOH, 2007). The Ministry reported that about 53,000 women die every year in Nigeria; that is one woman every 10minutes from complications during pregnancy and delivery. The Ministry further added that the situation of children is even worse in Nigeria indicating that about one million children die every year. This implies that 46 children die every hour due to preventable and treatable infectious diseases.
