RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PRINCIPALS' DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF KOGI STATE

📄 Project Abstract

The increase in the number and size of many secondary schools in Kogi state in Nigeria has resulted in the employment of more teachers, changes in school structure, and enlarged curriculum and as such the problems of effective organization by school principals could obviously become more complex. Rapid expansion through the creation of junior and senior secondary schools means that more teachers may be recruited as principals. Some of these principals may have less experience as experienced principals are no longer available for some schools. In Kogi state, it is pertinent to note that some schools experience more conflicts than others, and this is attributed among other things to the principals' level of organization. Discipline in school for instance, is the offspring of effective organization, while indiscipline is caused by absence of commitment on the part of some principals (Adesina, 1990).
