RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-CONCEPT AND LOCUS OF CONTROL,AND MARITAL STABILITY IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

📄 Project Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between self-concept and locus of control, and marital stability of husbands and wives in Enugu State ofNigeria. A correlational surveydesign was adopted. In pursuance of the objectives of the study, five research questions were raised and two null hypotheses were tested. A multi-stage stratified random sampling technique was adopted to select 878 married men and women as sample. A researcher designed instrument titled Self-Concept, Locus of Control and Marital Stability Scale (SLMSS) was employed for data collection. The research questions were answered using mean scores standard deviation and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, while the null hypotheses were tested using the Simple Linear regression analysis. The major findings of the study revealed that both husbands and wives had high level of self-concept, and internal locus of control orientation, and that they both enjoy high level of marital stability.
