📄 Project Abstract

A recent technological development from Aperio has meant that glass microscope slides can now be digitised at extremely high resolutions. This allows for the application of computer vision in the histopathology discipline. This project is concerned with identifying and quantifying macro-vesicular fat using entire slides. Previous research has focused around taking a very limited number of snapshots of slides. 1.2 Aim This project looks into a computerised, digital aid for one area of histopathology: quantifying the amount of fat in liver tissue over an entire slide. A prototype algorithm will be produced that attempts to do this as well as an evaluation of the algorithm against existing research and a pathologist's manual estimation. 1.3 Objectives To reach the project aim the following objectives have been identified: 1 1.
