📄 Project Abstract

In 2002, the University of Leeds introduced a new module to the first year syllabus called SO13 Introduction to Programming. This replaced the previous first year programming modules SO11 and SO12, which taught students the fundamentals of C++. SO13 syllabus spans over two semesters and includes three programming languages that are taught to first years, Python, C++ and Java. The overall aim of this project was to evaluate whether it is advantageous to students to teach Python as an introductory language to novice programmers.
