📄 Project Abstract

The project discusses the research, development and evaluation of a web based information system for Billingham Amateur Swimming Club (BASC). The primary objective is to deliver an efficient computerised system to monitor swimmers' performance, to enable the chief coach to review a large amount of statistical data resulting in accurate setting of target training times, through the use of quantitative results. Currently BASC operates without the use of a computerised system, which is tedious, lacking any form of recovery if the data is lost. The club's recent expansion has lead to an increased workload, which the chief coach is finding difficult to cope with, through the use of the current paper-based system. Primarily research took place into BASC's current methods and procedures, in the form of a semi-structured interview and document review to examine the paper-based system in operation.
