Management Of Leaf Roller Sylepta Derogata Fab. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) On Some Okra Varieties In Samaru And Kadawa, Nigeria
📄 Project Abstract
Field trials were conducted at two locations namely Samaru in Zaria, Kaduna State and Kadawa, Kano State during the 2019 wet season to determine the effects of five (5) okra varieties (Clemson spineless, Ex-Basawa, Jokoso, Ex-Samaru and NHAE-47), three (3) insecticides (Lambda-cyhalothrin, Cypermethrin + Dimethoate and Chlorantraniliprole + Lambda- Cyhalothrin) with an Untreated control and time of sowing (July and August). Treatments were arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) and replicated three (3) times. A total of four spray applications at two weeks interval beginning from 7 WAS were carried out. Observations were recorded on the larval count, percentage incidence, damage on leaves and okra fruit yield. Variety Ex-Samaru recorded the least larval incidence of okra leaf roller at Samaru (1.67 %) and Kadawa (1.67 %) while Variety Jokoso recorded the highest incidence of leaf roller at Samaru (6.57 %) and Kadawa (7.33%).
