📄 Project Abstract

The project detailed in this report has 3 interrelated objectives: The first is to present the basic tenets of the 'neural blackboard architecture' model of human visual system. This model attempts to explicate how our visual system processes data to provide us with a coherent, unified percept of the world around us. One of the theorists behind this model, dr Marc De Kamps, has created an API that provides the potential to simulate the model as an artificial neural network. The second objective is to create a graphical user interface to provide access to a specific aspect of this API's functionality. In doing so, the GUI provides the means by which to create a particular variety of dynamic neural networks that model the behaviour of biological neural populations. Networks created using the GUI can be used to conduct research into a variety of areas, however they are of particular use to the simulation of the neural blackboard model, in that they provide the means to make this simulatio...
