Heuristic Algorithms for Flow Shop Scheduling
📄 Project Abstract
The aim of this project is to study the flow shop scheduling problem and the known algorithms for solving it. The project looks into the algorithm of Johnson, Gonzalez & Sahni (1978) and Rock & Schmidt (1982), comparing their efficiency. Scheduling is the allocation of resources over time with the optimal utilization of the usually limited resources in completing the tasks. The main objective in scheduling is concerned with the optimal allocation of scarce resources to activities over time. The pro blem involves jobs on machines to be scheduled subject to certain constraints .The main objective of this project is to specify a schedule on when and on which machine each job is to be executed.
