GLOBALISATION AND NIGERIA'S FOREIGN POLICY: A STUDY OF PRESIDENT OBASANJO'S REGIME (1999-2007)

📄 Project Abstract

The study examined the impact of globalisation on Nigeria's foreign policy with particular focus on the Olusegun Obasanjo's administration from 1999 to 2007. It reviewed relevant literatures on the subject matter. The data were extracted through content analysis. The study examined the various reforms put in place by the government to revive Nigeria's economy, and reintegrate it into the global community. The study, showed the steps taken by Obasanjo's administration to redeem Nigeria's battered international image, and the proportion of foreign investors attracted to the country that helped to boost its economy. It recommends the necessity for a complete restructuring and transformation of the Nigerian political economy, guaranteeing that good governance will help the foreign policy of the state, by helping it put in place the right policies that will help restore the distorted economy of the State
