Social media platforms have turned out as major ways of communication and channels of engagement and will continue to be the platform for living in the future. Social media social media platforms have turned out as major ways of communication and channels of engagement and will continue to be the platform for living in the future. Therefore, this research seeks to explore Facebook as a tool for socio-ethical development. It seeks to examine the perception of young people on the much-talked-about dangers of social media to social values. The study made use of questionnaire to collect data from two hundred and twenty-nine respondents. The collected data was analysed and the results presented through tables, frequencies and percentages. The findings of the study revealed that people join Facebook for different reasons, some join as a result of friend referral, and some under peer pressure and sense of belonging.
