EFFECTS OF KADUNA METROPOLITAN LANDUSE ON KADUNA RIVER WATER QUALITY

📄 Project Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of Kaduna metropolitan land use on Kaduna River water quality in Kaduna state; Nigeria. To achieve our stated aim; the following objectives are put forward: to identify the sources of pollution in Kaduna river; to assess the quality level of Kaduna river in the Metropolis in relation to land use zones, to determine the spatial and seasonal variation of water quality of the river; to assess the level of awareness of residents of the Metropolis on effects of their activities on the quality of the river, and to examine the consequences of pollution in water quality of the river on human health. Data were got from primary and secondary sources. For primary data, water samples were collected from five sample points and analyzed for the spatial and seasonal quality variation for 21 parameters (temperature, pH, conductivity, colour, turbidity, TSS, TDS, DO, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, BOD, COD, Oil and grease, phosphate, copper, calcium, Magne...
