EFFECT OF NON-OIL REVENUE ON THE ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA.
📄 Project Abstract
The study examined the effect of non-oil revenue on the economic growth of Nigeria from 2008- 2018 examining the specific objective if there is any relationship between non-oil revenue and economic growth in Nigeria. Income from Value added tax (VAT), Company income tax (CIT), and Custom excise and duty (CED) were used as proxies for non-oil revenue while gross domestic product (GDP) was applied as proxy for economic growth. The research design adopted was the ex- post facto research design. The researcher made use of secondary data which was sourced from central bank of Nigeria quarterly statistical bulletin and Nigeria bureau of statistics quarterly statistical bulletin. Ordinary least square regression was employed to examine the relationship among the variables. The result of the regression revealed that value added tax with (p-value 0.001) has a positive and significant relationship with gross domestic product.
