IT-based insruction in contemporary education has the potentials to accelerate, enrich and deepen skills, and provide opportunities for connection between the school and the world of globalisation. It has been observed that since the introduction of mordern IT-based insruction into mordern teaching and learning process, social studies education is yet to comply adequately with this trend of teaching, this is due to the fact that most teachers and students in social studies are not computer literate. Even in cases where the teachers are literate, they find it challenging to alter the traditional techniques of teaching in favour modern ITbased instruction. Basically, the thrust of this experiment is centered on the effect of Information Technology-based instruction on the academic performance in social studies among NCE students in Kogi state, thus, the quasi experimental design was adopted for the study and a sample of 120 was selected through the simple ramdom sampling.
