This study is based on the fact that there has been consistent evidence of poor achievement of students in French Language in Nigeria. The Chief Examiner's Report of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for 2009 provides one of such evidence. Because of the global importance of French language, and the relevance of the language in the regional affairs in West Africa, this problem of poor achievement has continued to draw the attention of researchers and policy makers in Nigeria. In the views of some authors, the poor achievement may be because the students have no interest in the language. Some others argue that students'lack of interest in the language may be because they have poor comprehension of the language. Still others add that if poor comprehension is the problem, it could be as a result of the method of teaching used by French language teachers.
