📄 Project Abstract

Prenatal Screening covers the range of procedures that are available to pregnant women in order to find out those at risk of having a child that is affected by congenital disorders. Prenatal screening software serves to calculate the likelihood of such a risk based on clinical tests results and pregnancy related factors. Although it is possible to do such calculations manually, the calculations involved are too complex to be done routinely by a physician. Advances in prenatal screening have now reached a level where physicians would like to carry out prenatal screening using highly efficient, internet enabled software systems. Up until now, prenatal screening has not been fully available on the web (Shaffiq, 2004) and current systems do not meet user needs such as being: * Configurable and incorporating the latest research findings on biochemical and ultrasound markers. * Scalable for networked applications and internet enabled. * Able to give multi-stage results and interpret them for...
