📄 Project Abstract

This project aims to develop a suitable technique for simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) using a robot developed with LEGO Mindstorms NXT. To acheive this, a simple robot and environment to test it in has been implemented, and the output analyzed appropriately to quantify any improvements made. Post processing of output and environmental changes have also been investigated in an effort to refine the results and test the robustness of the solution. It was found that simultaneous localization and mapping can produce a reasonably accurate representation of the environment, subject to certain hardware constraints.
