📄 Project Abstract

From the sociological point of view, we can categorize offences as: victimless crime, those who are victims are themselves perpetrators of the crime; violent and non-violent crime; crime against person and; privileged and non-privileged crime. It is pertinent to note that, an offender is not only the person who has acted wrongly but also the person who has failed to act. And an attempt to commit an offence is itself an offence under the criminal code. The criminal code says: "When a person begins to commit an offence, begins to put intention to adaptation to its fulfillment and manifest intension by some overt act, such a person is liable as an offender". This paper therefore, evaluates the three tiers of criminal Justice systems in Nigeria with a view to proffer possible panacea to strengthen the system.
