CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND CRISES OF DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA: A CASE STUDY OF THE UNITED NATIONS MANAGEMENT OF DARFUR CRISES

The study investigated conflict management and crises of development in Africa. Specifically, the study examined the link between the United Nations intervention and 9 management of Darfur crises and the development of the region. Utilizing the theoretical framework of Frustration and Aggression model which contends that the motivational strength toward aggression is a function of reinforcement value of the frustrated goal response; the theory unveiled that the refusal of the National Islamic Front ledgovernment to pay heed to the agitation and struggle of the Muslim African ethnic groups led to the eruption, escalation and elongation of aggressive behaviour in form of armed conflict against the NIF led government in Sudan. Relying on observational technique, relevant qualitative data were generated for the study. These were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis.
