Comparison of two Collaborative Working Environments

📄 Project Abstract

This project will aim to investigate the fundamentals of two collaborative working environments, which are Netmeeting and VNC. It will examine their strengths and weaknesses through a scenario in which both technologies have been tried in an experiment. This project will not only focus on technology issues, but an understanding of social and organisational issues involved will be vital to the success of the report. The project will first review the background of CSCW discipline and how it developed. It will then examine the relevance of groupware tools and Human Computer interaction to this discipline. A thorough assessment will focus on how these two technologies are used by individuals and businesses as well as geographically distributed groups. An experiment has been conducted to investigate the capabilities and weaknesses of the two working environments.
