Trafficking in person is a form of modern-day slavery for many, including refugees. It is an illegal trade in human beings through force, fraud, cohesion, or violence for the purpose of sexual exploitation, force labor, and other slavery like practices. Trafficking of children is a form of human trafficking and is defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, and/or receipt of a child for the purpose of exploitation. A child is a human between the stages of birth and puberty. The legal definition of child generally refers to a minor, otherwise known as a person younger than the age of majority. The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nation Population Division (UNDP) refers to children as those below 18years of age (Aluko, 2010) similarly, a child is defined by United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF, 2002) as a person under the age of 18, unless national law fixed an earlier age.
