CLAIMS MANAGEMENT IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY A CASE STUDY OF SELECTED INSURANCE COMPANIES IN LAGOS STATE

In the past, insurance companies hardly thought of how best to manage genuine claims and this led to the disillusionment of many claimants. But with increasing number of insurance companies in recent years coupled with the declining purchase on the best method of manage claims. The researcher delved into this study in order to help insurance companies to identify some of the problems militating against prompt settlement of claims. The recommendations made would help to solve these problems. The data used for this research were carefully collected through extensive filed work and the instruments used in collecting the data were questionnaire. The research was carried out in Lagos Metropolis alone where most of the insurance companies have their head offices. The research was however, not easy as the researcher encountered a lot of problems in collecting data.
