ARCHITECTURAL RESPONSE TO EFFECTS OF WIND ON HIGH RISE BUILDING FORMS IN THE DESIGN OF MIXED-USE AT EKO ATLANTIC CITY LAGOS
📄 Project Abstract
For decades tall and sealed buildings suffer from the effects of wind, some of which affects ventilation and some affects the structural integrity of the building, effects arising from ventilation leads to high energy consumption through the use of machineries to cool down the building, whereas effects leading to structural failure can arise due to aerodynamic form of the building or adverse environmental conditions To respond to this problem, different high rise building forms were modelled and simulated to find the one with higher resistance to wind effects, however Lancet form appeared to be the best among the ones chosen with a drag coefficient of -0.15, pedestrian wind speed of 35.6m/s and wind loading of 247pa.
