Background: Adolescent pregnancy constitutes major health and social problems world-wide. One in four ladies becomes mother by the age of 19 years. The practice of early marriage and the resultant teenage motherhood abound in Northern Nigeria. Most previous studies assessing the emotional state of women in pregnancy were carried out among adult women. Few studies have been done among adolescents in late pregnancy. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and socio-demographic correlates of anxiety and depressive disorders among adolescents in late pregnancy and its impact on their quality of life in comparison with adult women. Methodology: It was a cross-sectional study involving one hundred and fifty adolescents and equal number of adults in late pregnancy selected randomly and interviewed in two stages.
