AN INVESTIGATION INTO CAUSES OF FAILURE OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES IN PUBLIC HIGHER INSTITUTION IN BAUCHI STATE NIGERIA

📄 Project Abstract

The research project aimed at investigating the significant causes of failure, the nature of failure, and the degree effect of failure in Bauchi state higher institutions. A building in Bauchi state particularly higher institutions develops some kind of failures, which occurs on the buildings elements or components thereby increasing severe kind of effects with the building structure. Therefore, the research was able to find the significant causes of the failure and also able to assess the failure effects on the building, this is done through adopting qualitative method of research where the data are obtained by administering structured questionnaires to Works Department within the various institutions. It was discovered from the findings that the major causes of the failure include; Poor quality of concrete used, Faulty construction, etc. while it was also noted that the nature of failure include; cracks, rupture, etc. and lastly the level of severity effects on the building were also...
