📄 Project Abstract

This study is focussed on the evaluation of the contribution of commercial banks in the financing and facilitating of foreign trade. The aim was to determine the effectiveness or otherwise of the roles of commercial banks in foreign trade financing. This was to enable a critical assessment of the bank's operating system with a view to assessing the extent to which they have succeeded in satisfying their varying customers in international trade. Existing literature on the subject was reviewed in an attempt to discuss the concept of foreign trade. The study also reviewed various opinions of scholars on the subject of forign trade financing by commercial banks and also dealt extensively on the various methods of settlements of debt in international trade and the various ways by which banks grant finance to exporters and importers.
