Columnar cell lesions have been generating the interest of pathologists in recent years as they are a relatively new entity coming into clinical attention upon finding them in biopsy specimen sent for the investigation of microcalcification on routine screening mammography. Screening mammography is not yet a widely practiced procedure in Nigeria therefore to be able to study Columnar Cell Lesions we look at the cystic variant of Fibrocystic Changes that appears to be the closest in morphologic features. These benign lesion come into clinical attention as imaging abnormalities or as palpable lesions found on physical examination1 Fibrocystic Changes (FCC) of the breast fall into the non proliferative group having morphologic patterns such as cysts lined by cuboidal epithelium often with apocrine metaplasia, fibrosis and adenosis2.
