A Personalised Sports News Gathering System

📄 Project Abstract

The aim of this project was to provide a system capable of taking a users sporting interests and providing them with news items relating to these interests. The development focused on providing a solution with high levels of usability and accessibility. Background research was undertaken into the possible methodologies, web technologies, databases technologies and news aggregators that could facilitate such a project. Rapid Application Development (RAD) was chosen as the methodology for this project, using the Dynamic Systems Design Method (DSDM) as the framework for this RAD. The research came pointed towards the development of a solution using Active Server Pages and MySQL database. A system was designed, built, implemented and evaluated based on the background reading into this area. User reviews of prototypes helped shape the direction of development throughout the project leading to the production of a functional model. This model formed the basis for the system build.
