📄 Project Abstract

This project presents a bicycle detection, classification and counting system for urban traffic scenes by processing monocular image sequences captured by a fixed video camera. Bicycles are light in weight and small in dimensions, a combination of characteristics, which have made them invisible to most traffic monitoring systems. To add to the complexity of the problem, outdoor traffic scenes can be very challenging and unpredictable. The proposed system uses features and methods designed to deal with the 'challenges'. In this report existing fully automated bicycle counting systems will be reviewed and a detailed description of the proposed solution will be given. This report will also present an evaluation and results of the proposed system.
