A Bio Inspired Application on the iPad
📄 Project Abstract
This report details the design and implementation of an iPad application. With touchscreen interfaces becoming increasingly common, the report explores the development on such devices. To investigate touch-screen development, the project employs the implementation of an ant-routing algorithm. The algorithm is normally used within the context of finding efficient paths through networks that contain discrete nodes; usually the algorithm is seen as an alternative and different solution to the travelling salesman problem. The project attempts to create an environment where the ants can travel about freely without restriction. Thus creating a simulation of the ant-routing algorithm that can potentially be used in a learning context. The application allows for direct user input that indirectly affects the simulation through the adding and removing of pheromones and impassable terrain.
