VALUE PREFERENCES AND ACHIEVEMENT ATTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL LEAVERS

ABSTRACT

 This study was carried out to investigate on the value preferences and achievement attribution of school leavers in Nsukka Educational Zone of Enugu State. The study was guided by seven research questions and five null hypotheses. The design of the study was an ex-post-facto design. Accidental sampling technique was used to sample 10% of the population of school leavers which is 340. Two instruments were used for data collection, Value Preference Scale (VPS) and Achievement Attribution Scale (AAS). Then Cronbach’s Alpha method was used to test the internal consistency of the instruments. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study showed that gender has no influence on achievement attribution of school leavers, gender has no influence on value preferences of school leavers, location has no influence on achievement attribution of school leavers, location has no influence on value preferences of school leavers, and that achievement attribution has no influence on value preferences of school leavers.
