Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the extent of utilization of school-business partnership (SBP) in the implementation of entrepreneurship education (E.E) at secondary schools in Enugu education zone. Four research questions and four null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey design was employed for the study. 200 respondents, comprising 25 principals and 175 heads of departments were used for the study. A 44 items questionnaire was administered. Mean scores and standard deviations were used to answer the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using the t- test. The study revealed that among the E.E teaching strategies accepted by the respondents which are site visit and drill and practice method are the least employed in teaching E.E in secondary schools. Available potential school-business partners are not adequately utilized by schools in E.E implementation. Areas of partnership between schools and business owners for enhancing the implementation of E.E in secondary school include; joint planning, funding, practical classroom teaching, provision of instructional materials, grants, creation of awareness, provision of experiential learning experience, policy development, mentorship and staff development. H.O.Ds however rejected the later. Inadequate sensitization of community members, inadequate management of time, ongoing partnership not being made known to the public, inadequate principals’ attitude towards entrepreneurship education, lack of mission statement and partnership objectives not being specific and measurable are constraints for effective utilization of SBP in the implementation of entrepreneurship education . On the basis of the findings and educational implications of the study, the researcher makes the following recommendations; School heads should scout their environments for partnership opportunities to enhance capacity building. Teachers should submit themselves to any form of training opportunities for quality job performance. Business owners, should partner with schools for services, and also to gain goodwill or any other form of benefits. There should be mutual trust and free communication among stakeholders. Every School-business partnership engagement should be well advertized by both parties, both to encourage ongoing SBP and to attract more partners.
