 The purpose of this study was to find out the stress coping practices among University of Nigeria undergraduates. Seven research questions and four hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The cross sectional survey design was adopted in carrying out the study. A multi- stage sampling procedure was used to compose a sample of 1614 students from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. A questionnaire was used in collection of data. The data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Frequencies of the response to the questionnaire items which were converted into percentages and statistics were used to answer the research questions and test hypotheses respectively. The hypotheses were tested at .05 level of significance. The analyses showed that majority of the students adopt task - oriented coping; cope with the emotion- oriented activities; engage in avoidance coping, and that students stress coping practices do not differ based on their gender, age, marital status and year of study. There were also statistically significant differences between the students' personal characteristics:- gender, age, marital status, and year of study and their stress coping practices. The study recommended that school authority should as an interim measure, organize programme aimed at giving students clues as how well to cope with stress. It also recommended that instructions on coping at the undergraduate level in our universities should be encouraged and well handled.
