ABSTRACT
In respective of the importance of community involvement in the administration of secondary schools, it is not clear the extent to which communities in Ogbadibo education zone are involved. This study was therefore designed to establish the extent of community involvement in the administration of secondary school in the Ogbadibo education zone of Benue state.
In an attempt to focus on the study, three research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance were used the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question, statistic was employed to test the hypotheses. The study revealed among others that; the findings shows that the secondary school teachers and the educated parents in the Ogbadibo Educational zone of Benue state agreed overwhelmingly that communities to a great extent are involved in the provision of funds for renovation of dilapidated buildings refurbishing of the school buildings as well as in terminal classes. Both respondents also agreed that communities at a very little extent are involved in funding of workshops for serving teachers, in assisting teachers to plan scheme of work, offer suggestion on the improvement of the teaching materials, recommendation of promotion exercise for the staff setting an adhos committee to examination malpractices, as well as intervening when there is conflict among teachers. Teachers at a great extent agreed that the communities are involved in the discipline of insubordinate students at school. Based on the findings recommendations were made and suggestions for further studies were given.
